The Dan Conry Show was named winner of the “Best Radio Show-News Talk 2010″ by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Awards on May 7, 2011.
Dan Conry began his twelve year award winning talk radio career in 2000 at the storied AM 1500 KSTP News Talk in St. Paul, MN. It was a moment of serendipity and opportunity that he took hold of, and never looked back. Within the first year, Dan was part of morning drive, weekend & evening shows. This former NYPD undercover narcotics detective discovered his new passion, News Talk Radio. In 2001, after Dan returned from ground zero in NYC, he co-hosted KSTP’S acclaimed Post 9-11 Show.
Dan’s career took him to the South East where he further developed his common sense style & radio voice at WMEL News Talk in Melbourne, FL. Politics, pop culture, social issues and his listener friendly approach proved to be a winning combination. In 2007 He jumped at the opportunity to return to the Mid West and help launch Clear Channels 100.3 KTLK FM News Talk in Minneapolis. From the election of President Obama to the 35W bridge collapse, Dan became one of the most recognized voices in the Twin Cities market.
In 2010, After hosting in Florida at WMMB Clear Channel, Dan made the decision to return to the Mid West. He launched his show at News Radio 1230 WCLO in Janesville, WI & Open Line Weekend at News Talk 1310 WIBA Clear Channel Madison, WI. Utilizing relationships developed nationwide. In May of 2011, The Dan Conry Show was honored by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association as Best News Talk Radio Show 2010.
Dan is well known for conducting a fast paced, caller inclusive show, making his “laughter is the best medicine” philosophy a priority for every show. He proved this the night before he had major brain surgery. Dan conducted a “name the tumor” contest on his show. The winner was “Deposit McFatty”, as was Dan. After surgery & radiation, along with a great sense of humor, he is doing fine today.
Dan is a frequent guest host for some of the best News Talk talent in the country. He can be heard hosting the nationally syndicated Jason Lewis Show, as well as the Mark Belling & Vicki McKenna programs at WISN Milwaukee.
He has been heard from Minneapolis to Melbourne FL & can be heard today from Milwaukee to Madison WI on WISN & WIBA News Talk radio.
Dan is frequently joined by national news makers like Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann, Congressman Paul Ryan, WI Lt Gov. Rebecca Kleifisch and former NYC Mayor Rudy Guliani. His favorite guests of the show are the callers. After any interaction with Dan, one thing is obvious…… He loves what he does.
